Hi, I'm Darek page as known in the forums, I've been meaning to put a post here for some time, except i was waiting for someone (eying Bingas) to give me the instructions on how to log in. Anyway, I've moved on from that now as we can see and here I am.
So again Hi, I'm now a Cygnar player, I primarily play Khador and Legion with a bit of minions on the side. I've always had a thing for stuff that go zap of which saying that makes me wonder if I'll regret it as I post it to a audience of millions but in any case... this is why I'm playing a epic Nemo tier list.
I had a lot of debate with myself what tierlist i was going to play, what i really wanted was to take that new storm strider battle engine out for a spin. but as time went on, it was looking more and more like it wasn't going to show up.
i decided to settle for the cygnar storm tower instead and start working from there... if they ever do make a tier list with the storm strider, well we'll see.
since it's already July soon to be August, I'll cover both the month gone and the current month about to pass in terms of what I've been doing the whole time.
JUNE:- did a trip to the city, brought e.nemo, three storm caller solos and a storm blade unit attachment... for those with sharp eyes, your probably going "wait what?" well I'll explain, firstly it was all they had of my tier list in the store, and it fitted nicely into my $50... now those with even sharper eyes, would also be going "wait what?" well I'll continue to explain i had made a Cygnar rookie mistake in assuming storm blades and storm guard were one and the same. so i got him by complete accident.
PAINTING: So I wanted to show off the one thing that characterises my army most... which was lightning. in the words of William Wallace form Brave heart wanted it to look like 'they were firing lightning bolts out of their arse'... well maybe not literally but you get the picture.
so I was going to make it look like lightning was cascading off the models and across their bases and even off the sides like there was no containing this much power.
Firstly, decided to completely undercoat the models and their bases in white paint.
Secondly, I followed up with another undercoat of black paint but leaving gaps to let the white show through creating trails all across the model, this was representing the lightning flowing off the model. I intend to carry this concept across every model that produces electricity.
after that i used a citadel paint "regal blue" (scandalise I know, but that's how I roll) as a base coat, then another citadel paint "shining gold" for all the trims and brass bolts, anything else like leather and other forms of clothing I used random various paints just to experiment and give some variety between the models. I've still yet to decide what I'm going to do for faces and hair, but I'm probably going to use another citadel paint "elf flesh" because it's the best skin tone paint I've ever used before and what I know works best. how I do their hair is still a work in progress.
JULY: from the shops I've brought a Storm tower thanks to another player a Firefly. oh fun times to be had with that jack... if things go well i intend to get at least three fireflies perhaps four by the end of the year.
already painted them now using the same technique as before, it was interesting doing both models for different reasons, one because I got to see what the lightning effect would look like on a broad surface of a jack. and the lightning storm tower provided a large base which i got to see the pattern created there. I also noticed that the storm tower girl didn't have any personal electrical effects beside standing close to the tower, so i decided to paint her without electrical effects running across her suit and just let it dance around her feat, it also got to show off her impressive figure. ahem.
So that completes my two month post on my models, I've already played out 2 games with this force with mixed results but overall I'm happy with what I have. August is coming just around the corner now and yes... I'm keeping my eye out for a certain character Jack, you all know who I'm talking about.
